The Full Tilt Late Night Poker final started airing on Channel 4 this Tuesday and presented one of the toughest tables imaginable with Gus Hansen, Annette Obrestad, Patrik Antonius, Tony G, Luke Schwartz, Sam Trickett and Huck Seed all vying for the $200,000 first prize.
As the play got underway, the chip counts were evenly distributed at around the 62,000 mark and with blinds quite low there was plenty of room for the players to make moves and manoeuvre themselves into prime positions.
Before long Antonius managed to take down a $33,500 pot holding top pair but for the rest of the episode remained mostly out of the action due to a poor run of cards.
One of the biggest pots of the night occurred when the blinds were 300-600 and Luke Schwartz raised to 1600 holding pocket Q’s only to be re-raised to 12,000 by Huck Seed with pocket 10’s. As Schwartz moved all in 40k more, Seed was left contemplating if his opponent was holding A K, which would have made a call a equitable proposition. In the end he made the right decision and passed.
Later on in the game we were then treated to a great Tony G fold despite holding an A high flush but with full house potential on board. It only took him a brief moment to fold his losing hands whereas a lesser player may have thought he was being bluffed off the pot.
Before long the blinds had risen to 500/1000 when Schwartz got involved in a monster $120,000 pot with his 10’s up against Trickett’s pocket K’s. There were no surprises in store as Schwartz lost the hand and was reduced to a short stack badly needing a double up. Schwartz then went all in for his remaining chips with Q 8 and was eliminated as the first player to leave the table.
