When it comes to online sportsbooks there are perhaps none more instantly recognizable than bet365. Now the UK-based operator has brought its platform to the competitive NJ sports betting market. It is expected to launch in Colorado soon.
Bet365’s appropriately titled mobile sports application On the Move is available for iOS, Android and Windows devices. It is free to install and comes in most of the languages available on the main site. Online gaming operator Bet365 says it can improve its revenues and customer experience after incorporating new geolocation technology from Digital Element. Bet365 has signed up to use the global geolocation solutions company’s NetAcuity Edge within its gambling platform, saying it will simplify content localisation and automatically serve content and advertising in the correct language. 'bet365’s departure continues a worrying trend of gaming companies relocating operations to jurisdictions such as Malta.' For its part, Together Gibraltar said it was saddened by the news of bet365's relocation, which it described as 'a real blow' to employees and Gibraltar as a whole.
Since being founded in 2001, the UK-based gambling company has grown significantly and it ranks today as one of the UK’s largest privately-owned companies.
The bet365 app launched through partner Hard Rock Atlantic City’s license in August 2019.

bet365 – Our opinion of what works
1. Widespread sports coverage
Whereas most sportsbooks offer bets on mainstream sports exclusively, bet365 ups the ante by providing hands down the most comprehensive coverage of lesser-known sporting events.
Everything from Gaelic sports to esports and darts (yes, darts) is not only covered but done so extensively, with individual matches and events sometimes offering a range of wagers that numbers in the dozens.
More often than not bet365 provides betting coverage for multiple markets within each sport. Nowhere is this more prevalent than it is for soccer, where it’s not uncommon to find more than 100 markets covered.
If there’s one drawback to this level of comprehensiveness, it’s that recreational players may find themselves overwhelmed, but the betting filters are useful enough that it shouldn’t take too long for less knowledgeable players to become acclimated to the platform.
2. In-play wagering
By now, in-play wagering is a staple of just about any major book, but bet365 has sweetened the pot by adding a slew of features to its live betting experience.
The live betting console offers two main views. The first,Overview, allows punters to view the most common bets categorized by match, whereas Event View is a more detailed view that displays all in-play wagers for a live event, grouped by bet type. It’s not uncommon to find more than 50 in-play bets for high-profile soccer matches, and even basketball and volleyball matches are known to have upwards of 20 in-play bets.
A third view, Multi View, allows players to customize the in-play experience, while Schedule lists all upcoming in-play matches for the upcoming week.
bet365’s in-play service processes a monumental amount of data with relative ease, with updates hitting the platform almost instantaneously. Live streaming of in-play events is also available, however, the platform has yet to implement functionality that allows players to view full screen streams.
3. Multinational
The bet365 sports platform was designed with a global reach in mind. At present, it is available in 18 different languages including most common European and Asian languages. Odds can be displayed as fractional, decimal or American.
Catering to its eastern markets seems to be a priority for the site, as it offers great odds at Asian handicaps. Not to mention, high rollers appear more than welcome, even if they’re placing wagers on less than prominent events.
Getting money on to bet365 is a relativelypainless process, regardless of where you’re from, as the site processes payments from over 25 different currencies, and generally offers at least a half-dozen payment options per currencies – sometimes many more.
4. Bet365 Edit Bet
Bet365 has launched a new betting feature for 2017 called Edit Bet. It allows users to remove, swap or add selections to unsettled straight accumulator bets. You can do this before a match or In-Play. You can also swap or add selections to unsettled single bets.
bet365 Mobile – Our review
bet365’s appropriately titled mobile sports application On the Move is available for iOS, Android and Windows devices. It is free to install and comes in most of the languages available on the main site.
For the mobile users that can access the app, they will find that it stacks up quite nicely next to its desktop counterpart, especially in the areas of functionality and available betting options. Listed below are a few comparison points.
- The vast majority of events and markets available on the main site are also found at On the Move, including a vast array of in-play markets.
- Most sports, including soccer, tennis, basketball and squash can be watched in real-time from a mobile device, in so long as the user has a funded bet365 account or has placed a qualifying bet within the past 24 hours.
- Horse racing too, can be viewed live, pending a small wager was placed.
- Aesthetically, the app lacks appeal, but this small drawback is more than made up for by the incredibly organized and easy to navigate interface.
- Lastly, the app has a fully integrated account manager that allows you to register for the site and make deposit/withdrawal requests (among other functions) from your handheld device.
The ongoing shift of online gambling firms’ operations from Gibraltar to Malta continues this week with the announcement by veteran British firm Bet365 that it is shifting a large section of its corporate operations in Gibraltar to its newer offices in Malta.
Bet365 opened its Malta office in 2015 as a hedge against the possibility that the ongoing Brexit movement in the United Kingdom could become reality and jeopardize the firm’s Gibraltar hub, given the ongoing uncertainty that Gibraltar, a UK protectorate, will maintain full EU market access once the Brexit is complete.
Now, Bet365 has decided the time is ripe to shift more seriously to Malta, moving approximately 1,000 jobs to Malta in a move that the company estimates will cost €70 million. Affected employees at Bet365’s Gibraltar hub, which will remain in use but in a drastically reduced manner, have been offered the chance to relocate to Malta as part of the move.
All told, Bet365 employs about 4,300 people globally, and the company claims to have a global customer base of 35 million.
Bet365 issued a brief corporate statement about the move but has declined to comment further. The statement reads as follows:
“As part of our strategic and contingency plans to ensure EU market access and to maintain and enhance operational efficiencies, we have been building our presence in Malta and operating a dual regulatory and licensing strategy between Gibraltar and Malta for a number of years.
“However, from an operational and technical perspective and given our operating model, it has become increasingly challenging to efficiently run such multi-site operations and this has necessarily resulted in us conducting a review of our operations.
Bet365 On The Move Back
“We also continue to operate in a highly uncertain environment, driven primarily by the continuing Brexit landscape. Therefore, to assist with business planning and in order to maintain operational effectiveness, we intend to enhance our Maltese operational hub and relocate certain functionality there.”
In cutting off comment there, a Bet365 spokesman noted that the employee transitions and certain shareholder processes are ongoing.
As expected, the governments of Gibraltar and Malta sounded contrasting notes of mourning and joy over Bet365’s planned shift. The government of Gibraltar issued an official statement acknowledging the loss, while blaming it wholly on Brexit influences:
“Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar notes the statement from bet365 today.
“The Government has worked very constructively with bet365 on the issues that have led to the decisions that company has announced today and to mitigate the effects on Gibraltar.
“It is clear that the decisions announced by bet365 are directly related to Brexit and not to any matter otherwise related to Gibraltar.
“The Government will continue to work with bet365 through its period of staff consultation and rationalisation in order to seek to ensure that the footprint of bet365 in Gibraltar remains substantial.
“Gibraltar remains the best jurisdiction in the world from which to do well regulated, reputable online gaming business – and is the only jurisdiction guaranteed access to the United Kingdom market in online gaming going forward.”
Meanwhile, Malta Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and Jr Minister for Fin Services, Dig. Econ. & Innovation Silvio Schembri, one of the key figures in Malta becoming a European gambling hub, issued congratulations to Bet365 on social media. The move is expected to at least double the size of Bet365’s presence in Malta over what was envisioned just a few years ago. Bet365’s customers are expected to notice little or no disruption as the shift in operations occurs.
